Insider’s Review of The One Above

The top two floors of the great One&Only hotel, set within a few minutes’ walk of the bustling Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, are reserved for the exclusive-use, two-storey, utterly magnificent The One Above Penthouse. More specifics appear below, but quite beyond its maximal creature comforts, we should note that The One Above is graced with some of the most staggering views in the solar system. So you’ll be excused if you look out from The One Above—at the Southern Atlantic, colossal Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Devil’s Peak, and at Cape Town, one of the fizziest cities on earth—and have a certain quiet sense of proprietorship. The ultra-luxurious two-storey penthouse inspires physical and philosophical exultation.

Accommodations at
The One Above

The One Above has a generous open-plan design, emphasizing spaciousness and light wafting from its floor-to-ceiling windows. On the first floor of your luxury penthouse: a library, gym, four—it almost goes without saying—beautifully accoutered bedrooms, and a deck with an outdoor shower, pool, bar, barbecue and dining area. And, on the second floor (accessed by a sweeping marble staircase): a wrap-around, open-to-the-sky terrace, also with its own pool, a delightful water feature, and barbecue area. Plus luxuries like a couple of fireplaces, a professional coffee maker, a grand piano, a glass wine cellar with room for 280 bottles ready to be stocked by the One&Only’s expert sommeliers, and a sparkling collection of original artwork throughout the Penthouse. And then there are those incomparable views….
