Luxury Journeys to India’s Bandhavgarh National Park

On a subcontinent known for intricate embellishment—in art, architecture, storytelling, and even sartorial pursuits—you’re still unlikely to find a design more opulent than that of the royal tiger. Bandhavgarh National Park, secreted away in India’s mysterious heart, is home to the country’s highest concentration of the incandescent big cat, with excellent odds of spotting Shere Khan in his natural habitat.

And, speaking of Kipling and his beloved Jungle Book, the park seems to spring vibrantly from its very pages. Bandhavgarh Fort, partially reclaimed by the surrounding Sal forest wilderness, is presided over by troops of Hanuman langur, named for Hinduism’s mischievous Monkey King.
