Insider’s Review of Singita Milele

There is a reason Singita is considered to be a pinnacle of safari luxury—or perhaps, it’s better to say that there are many reasons. One of them is surely the modern marvel of Singita Milele, a private villa that stands on the slopes of Sasakwa Hill like something out of a modern-art dream. Endless savannah rolls out to the distance, bathed in an ancient quiet, a stillness of the soul. Here, words from the pen of Elspeth Huxley slip into the mind: “There is no feeling like being absolutely alone with creation… A whole world revolves in balance with itself, more perfect than the finest symphony.”

In a land where lionesses move over silent ground and the braying call of zebra sets our hearts pacing, Singita Milele is a sanctuary for us alone. Five suites sprawl across more than 1,200 square feet, blending art, design, and wilderness with effortless grace. Between adventures with our Micato Safari Director at the helm, days pass amidst gentle wellness rituals, moments before the glowing embers of a boma fire, and haute dining that is personalised down to the tiniest detail. In every moment, we feel alive with the wilderness of Serengeti.

Accommodations at Singita Milele

Surrounded by 350,000 acres of grasslands, Singita Milele celebrates the spirit of safari with a modern aesthetic. The suites are inspired by classic safari game, from cheetahs and rhinos to giraffes and lions, and poignantly brought to life with modern art and furnishings custom-designed by craftspeople across the continent. Every touch echoes the feel and hues of the wilderness: the textured wool rugs in the lounge areas, the speakeasy-style cork-topped chairs at the bars, and ornate ceramics from Cape Town and glassware from Swaziland artisans.

Milele guests will love playful touches such as the villa’s ten-person cinema room, and the private gym and wellness sala. Yet, amenities like these are just the beginning. In each suite, spacious lounges with writing desks and floor-to-ceiling windows flow into open-air dining spaces, an infinity pool with a dining area, lounge beds, and a pool table overlooking the game-rich plains, and a boma firepit set for starlit gatherings. And for every traveller, suites have been designed with varying preferences in mind. Guests in the sprawling Journey Suite will enjoy their dedicated spa pool, private entrance, and two separate bedrooms and dressing rooms that lead to fabulous outdoor showers. The more intimate Dazzle Suite features a handsome private study, while the Crash Suite sits apart from the main house, proffering an extra bit of privacy. The Pride and Coalition Suites, meanwhile, share an interconnected doorway to accommodate larger groups, as well as a shared spa pool, in addition to wheelchair access.

Activities and Attractions at Singita Milele

In the vast Grumeti Game Reserve, dawn brings the promise of discovery. We may begin with a game drive across the plains, catching sight of cheetah stretched in early-morning light or Maasai giraffes stepping quietly amongst the acacias. On an afternoon, perhaps we’ll visit the Anti-Poaching Observation Post to meet dedicated Singita Grumeti Fund scouts, whose vigilance protects these lands and creatures, from lion prides to the elusive bat-eared fox. An expert guide will share the region’s story of conservation while we sip sundowners and enjoy a collaborative conversation as the sun lowers in the distance.

Back at our private haven, one-on-one sessions of vinyasa or yin yoga are available on one of the shaded decks, occasionally embellished with a spot of birdsong, and fine gifts, from hand-carved sculptures to limited-edition prints, are worth a browse at Faru Faru boutique. Should inspiration, or thirst, strike, rare vintages await in the Milele wine cellar, where a knowledgeable sommelier can host tastings of celebrated South African wines, including some drawn from Singita’s private reserves of single-vineyard and rarely found bottlings.

Evenings here are an unhurried affair. A leisurely massage awaits in the private spa, drawing upon indigenous oils and ancient healing wisdoms. Families delight as children show what they’ve learned from the Mini Game Rangers’ Course—naming constellations after stargazing lessons or recounting tales of tracking eland and elephant prints. We’ll spend hours, if we wish, feasting on a menu tailor-prepared to our taste, and look forward to the morning ahead: an optional hot-air balloon flight, where we’ll glide with the sunrise across the top of the Serengeti.
