From November through March (excluding December holidays), fewer travellers roam our gamelands. The airports are calmer, the towns are hushed, and the savannahs are blissfully unpeopled. Meanwhile, wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes are calving. Elephants and lions may be, too. Landscapes are lush, sunsets are vivid, and temperatures are moderate.
Your Micato Safari Director, along with your Driver-Guide, may be the only other humans in sight. Micato’s Africa is truly a year-round destination, but if you’re looking for the right place at the right time, this is absolutely one of them.
Tracking majestic mountain gorillas with Micato in Rwanda is among the most exclusive encounters in the world: Only about a dozen habituated gorilla families live in the velvet-green Volcanoes National Park, and no more than eight people may visit any given gorilla family each day.
Crouched in a bamboo forest, you’ll watch the gorillas emerge. They might wrestle with their youngsters, forage, and, if the odds are in your favour, gaze into your eyes.
