Two Micato Experts Win Spots on Travel+Leisure A-List

By Micato Staff September 4, 2019

If you’re ever looking for travel expertise and you hear somebody claiming to be one of the world’s top travel advisors, or you hear an organization assert they proudly employ the world’s top travel advisors, ask them this pointed but nonetheless legitimate question:

“According to who?”

We’re proud to announce that according to the editors of Travel+Leisure, Micato Safaris has two of the world’s top travel advisors on its team: India specialist Marion Miller, who made the A-List for a second consecutive year, and Africa expert Liz Wheeler, who joins this year.

Each year T+L culls applications from hundreds of luxury travel advisors, evaluating their ability to deliver itineraries, service, and levels of exclusive access that are unsurpassed; that Liz and Marion bested many of the wonderful, qualified people in our industry to earn spots on this list makes us especially proud of them and inspires us as a company to raise the bar even higher for ourselves.

Why This Is a Big Deal

Marion and Liz join 121 other “top agents and tour operators in the business” for Travel+Leisure’s 18th annual list. And T+L explains in part why the A-List is something of a big deal, in the process reminding us why working with a travel advisor can be an excellent idea.

Not only does working with a top advisor “eliminate the stress of planning by dealing with all of the details (visa requirements, bookings, etc.),” the magazine suggests, “but they also provide incredible insight and unparalleled access that gives you value you couldn’t get any other way… a seasoned advisor can help turn your next vacation into the experience of a lifetime.”

Why Marion Miller Made the A-List

Travel+Leisure points out in their September 2019 issue that “Marion has been crafting India itineraries for more than 20 years. Her trips hit all the popular destinations — Agra, New Delhi, Jaipur — while adding special experiences along the way. She can coordinate a walk through the spice market with a Delhi culinary expert followed by a private cooking lesson.”

You’ll find Marion’s official A-List listing here.

Why Liz Wheeler Made the A-List

Liz headed up Micato’s East Africa office for two decades and, Travel+Leisure also notes in their September issue, is “armed with a knowledge of Swahili and a passion for the continent…she avoids ‘luxury for luxury’s sake’ in favor of immersive cultural experiences, such as a visiting a paleoanthropology camp in Kenya or joining fisherman at work on Lake Victoria.”

You’ll find Liz’s official A-List listing here.

Inspired to travel? We hope so. Why not, then, schedule a consultation about a Micato journey to Africa or India. Or both!
