Jodhpur

Jodhpur The Blue City

Introducing Jodhpur

The Blue City of Jodhpur is an exemplar of Rajasthan’s chivalric, artistically ambitious, radiantly proud traditions. Our stays in state’s second largest city are based from one of the most successfully ambitious of its many monuments, the massive, yet delicate Umaid Bhawan, set on 26 flowery acres atop Chittar Hill. Now the home of Jodhpur’s erstwhile royals, it also houses a splendid museum and a hotel that our extremely well-travelled Executive Director Joy Phelan-Pinto calls “unquestionably the finest hotel” she’s ever stayed in. We visit the massive, 15th century Mehrangarh Fort, wander Jodhpur’s effervescent streets, and venture into the Thar Desert, visiting culturally unique villages inhabited since the late 1400s by the Bishnoi, a sect deeply dedicated to respect for nature.
