Ulusaba Private Game Reserve

Sir Richard Branson’s Ulusaba Private Game Reserve, one of South Africa’s choicest 52 square miles of wildlife-rich, classically African scenery, is located in the heart of the private, 250-square mile Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which is itself right next to the unfenced border of famed, 7,523-square mile Kruger National Park. In short: many beautiful, zesty, wildlife-teeming square miles of safari enthrallment.

Characteristically, Sir Richard hasn’t stinted when it comes to making his Ulusaba a fully private, imaginatively (and seamlessly) operated, unabashedly luxurious safari destination. We go into detail about his three linked, but distinct lodges: Rock Lodge, Cliff Lodge, and Safari Lodge in the Camps and Lodges section of this site. Suffice here to say that Branson’s vision of luxury in the midst of wilderness is crystal clear and compelling.

The world seems entirely different at Ulusaba; sights of giraffes in the distance, elephants playing in watering holes and the unnerving sounds of a lion’s roar in the evening. These are constant, awe-inspiring reminders that you are far from home, and in a world that belongs to the wildlife, not you.Lisa LoverroForbes
