Introducing Mumbai

In More Tramps Abroad, Mark Twain called Bombay (as it was, and still often is, called) “A bewitching place…an enchanting place–the Arabian nights come again.” The dear fellow may have been having a especially enthusiastic day when we wrote that, but the first two thirds of the quote are as accurate as they were in 1897. A world vanguard city in many ways, Mumbai is famously the capital of India’s massive film industry, not to mention its unquestioned financial and commercial hub, one of those cities that would reward a lifetime of rapt exploration.
