Set in lush gardens in the pacific Nairobi suburb of Karen, Hemingways has created an excited stir in East Africa’s travel world. Its 45 gorgeous rooms, each honouring an African luminary, are unmatched in their intelligent, gentle luxury. Hemingways’ common rooms are reminiscent of English stately homes, yet with an African flavour. And its restaurants, designed by Michelin star–winning Barry Tonks, have quickly entranced the capital’s gastronomic community.
Campi ya Kanzi

Nestled in an oasis of virgin wilderness beneath an exotic grove of enormous palms and fig trees, Lemarti’s Camp is owned by local Samburu guide Loyapan Lemarti and his renowned fashion-designer wife Anna Trzebinski. The combination is captivating, as Lemarti’s connection to the land and its people mingles with Anna’s elegance and artistry.Tents are a stunning blend of old wooden handcrafted furniture with soft, earthy velvets and vintage textiles. The camp is without electricity by design, magically aglow at night from the warmth of a thousand candles and lanterns.
Kicheche Bush Camp
Ancient whistling thorn acacias surround Kicheche Bush Camp and its six spacious and beautifully decorated tents. Highly eco-friendly, the camp makes solar power available both day and night for peaceable reading into the wee hours. As night falls, you may choose to sit on your verandah and let your eyes feast over the game-filled plains. Dinner here is an exceptional affair whether in the dining tent, beneath the spreading boughs of an acacia or under the stars in true safari style.
Brimming with African character, Ngare Serian is a small camp—six tents and a homey dining and lounging tent—that we reach by a rope bridge across the Mara River. Serian is an archetypal unfussy, informally welcoming, tranquil camp. Hippos frolic on the Mara, game drives out of Serian are superb, and the camp’s tents—as comfortable as a five-star hotel’s choicest rooms—were designed by someone who has safaried enthusiastically and wisely.
