17 Days Departs Sunday, Returns Friday

Day 1 New York City

Your journey officially begins in New York City, where you and your companions will check in for a one-night stay at the legendary and uber-luxurious Presidential Suite of the legendary Waldorf=Astoria. This evening, Africa native and Micato Safaris owner Dennis Pinto and his wife, Joy-Phelan Pinto, will join you at your hotel for a bon-voyage toast and pre-trip briefing. Later this evening, a pan-African meal will be prepared especially for you and your guests by world-renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson, author of “The Soul of a New Cuisine: A Discovery of the Foods and Flavors of Africa.”

Day 2 New York City

The next day, two Maybach 62s arrive at your hotel to whisk you and your guests to JFK Airport. The adventure of a lifetime begins as you and your companions embark on your departure flight from the United States. Your group will sip Dom Perignon as you wing across the Atlantic in Virgin Atlantic Airways’ prestigious Upper Class. Sleeper seats allow you to stretch and rest in total comfort, while flight attendants see to your every need as you settle in for your journey to Cape Town, South Africa.

Day 3 Virgin Atlantic Club House, London’s Heathrow Airport

At the Virgin Atlantic Club House at London’s Heathrow Airport, a private room is set aside for you and your guests to rest, enjoy spa treatments, a gourmet luncheon provided especially for you by Virgin Atlantic Airways, as well as meet a special guest (or two!).

Day 4 Cape Town

Upon arrival in Cape Town, you and your guests are transported by limousine to the Ellerman House Villa and Spa, one of the world’s most exclusive private villas and the jewel of Cape Town hotels. Ellerman House exudes the air of a wonderfully gracious family home, comfortable in its simplicity but imbued with a sense of romance. Enjoy sweeping views from Bantry Bay across the Atlantic Ocean to Robben Island as you relax from your long flight with a massage by the sea. A private butler will be at your service to attend to your every whim for the duration of your stay, and a private chef will prepare a spectacular welcome dinner for you and your guests (not to mention breakfast to order!).

Day 5 Cape Town

After a full night of rest, your adventure will truly begin. You start your day at dawn with a round of golf at one of the top courses in South Africa, Steenberg Golf Club, nestled in the crook of the Constantiaberg Mountains just minutes from the city center, followed by a delectable lunch at the club house.

In the afternoon, you and your guests will embark on a private tour by Mercedes of the Cape Town Peninsula, with stops along the way for shopping in the city’s upscale boutiques and gallery hopping.

This evening, you dine at L’Auberge Du Paysan, one of Cape Town’s top Michelin Guide-rated restaurants. Set in an elegant country setting, the crayfish soup and Terrine du Paysan (pheasant) with brandy and port wine are musts. Of course, so is South African wine, and the very best is offered here.

Day 6 Franschhoek Valley

This morning is yours to enjoy at leisure or on the golf course. Then, after lunch and some time for shopping, you and your party bid farewell to Cape Town with a private Silvercross helicopter aerial tour of the city. As the sun sets over Cape Town, you and your companions are whisked off to South Africa’s famed winelands.

This evening, relax in five-star luxury at the Grande Provence Estate Owners Cottage. Sitting in the heartland of South African wine country in the magnificent Franschhoek Valley in South Africa’s Western Cape, this 300-year-old estate overlooks 30 hectares of lush vines on the valley floor, with rugged mountain vistas beyond.

Gracefully governing the setting is the 18th-century Manor House, while the Owner’s Cottage juxtaposes period grandeur with contemporary luxury. The Cottage boasts four beautifully appointed rooms: a deluxe suite, conservatory, lounge, swimming pool and spa area. A private butler and chef ensure that your every need is met as you relax among the stunning scenery.

Day 7 Pearl Valley

Your day begins with a hot-air balloon sunrise safari, where you will witness spectacular views from high above the manicured lawns of Pearl Valley. Upon your descent from the skies, you and your guests will enjoy a gourmet breakfast, followed by a round of golf. Day 8 Gary Player Stud Farm, Karoo

This morning, you and your guests board a helicopter to Karoo for an unforgettable day and night at the Gary Player Stud Farm, Gary Player’s private estate. Here, you will be personally hosted by Mr. Player, the winner of 163 golf tournaments world-wide and the most successful international golfer of all time.

At Mr. Player’s estate, inarguably one of the most special places on earth, you will be treated to a round of golf with Mr. Player on his personal golf course (he is the designer of more than 250 courses around the globe), horseback riding on his championship horses, game viewing, and a spectacular dinner with the golf legend. This evening, you and your guests will reside in Mr. Player’s luxuriously appointed guest house.

Day 9 - Day 11 Plettenberg Bay

Today, it’s off by helicopter to Plettenberg Bay and surrounds, the heart of the world renowned Cape Garden Route in the Western Cape. It is often remarked that "Nature has made an enchanted abode of this beautiful place,” and, indeed, it is truly a spectacular destination bursting with exotic flora and fauna. Plettenberg Bay and environs stretch from Harkerville just outside Knysna through to Nature's Valley. Stop in Knysa for an oyster luncheon, then to the Gary-Player-designed Fancourt golf course, where experts will make a study of your golf grip in order to begin designing a set of custom clubs for you and each of your guests.

You then check in for the first of three nights at Pezula Castle, an entirely private castle built into an oceanfront cliff overlooking Noetzie Beach. The colonial-style property features bedroom terraces overlooking the ocean, a resident chef and butler, gym and pool. For the next three days, you and your guests enjoy canoeing and hiking the lush estate grounds by day, while being lulled to sleep by gentle ocean breezes and the sound of waves lapping the shore at night.

If more golf is what you and your guests desire, the Pezula Championship Golf Course is a sweeping spectacle of fairways and greens rolling through the pristine Southern Cape landscape. The breathtaking, award-winning 18-hole course rates amongst the best and most scenic golf courses in the world. Also nearby lies the Goose Valley Golf estate, a magnificent estate featuring a Gary Player-designed 72-par, 18-hole course with breathtaking views of Keurbooms Lagoon, the ocean, and the Tsitsikamma Mountains, as well as abundant animal and bird life.

Day 12 - Day 15 Phinda Nature Reserve

Today, you and your friends say farewell to the Garden Route and board a private charter for the short flight to Phinda Nature Reserve, where you will spend the next four nights in extravagant splendour. Here, you will reside at Getty House, a sophisticated sole-use villa situated on 3,500 hectares in the west of the Phinda Private Game Reserve.

This very private, intimate lodge overlooks an extinct volcano now covered in lush green vegetation and ringed by gently rolling hills. During your stay, you will enjoy exclusive use of the lodge, private butler and chef, and sole use of a luxury 4x4 safari vehicle. Each day, your private safari guide will take you on game drives where you will experience the Africa of your dreams- sweeping plains where elephants, giraffes, lions and more roam. The villa’s infinity pool is the perfect location for a mid-day break between game drives.

Day 16 Johannesburg

On day sixteen, you board a private charter to Johannesburg, where you will bid adieu to glorious South Africa and depart, again on Virgin Atlantic Airlines’ unparalleled Upper Class service, and enjoy gourmet dining, unlimited spa services, and supreme comfort.

Day 17 United States

Upon arrival at JFK, you may wonder if it was all just a dream—the first-class service, the enchanting scenery, the golf. But wait! Greeting you at the Virgin lounge is your private limo and driver, and as he places your Louis Vuitton safari duffel in the trunk, filled to near bursting with mementos from your journey, you spy your customized golf clubs waiting for you in his trunk. You drive off to your hotel, dreaming of your next South African golf safari.
