~Micato Safaris Introduces New Private Invitation Safari,
Elephant Back South Africa Sojourn and Enhanced Bespoke Collection~

New York, NY (February 12, 2013) – Ever dream of living the life of Ernest Hemingway, traveling as the personal guest of friends-of-friends to private bush homes and camps throughout East Africa, sharing adventures in the bush by day and a hearty meal, cocktails, tall tales and laughter by the fireplace back at the homestead in the evening? Or perhaps your dream is to explore the South African wilds by elephant back, lumbering among the giraffe and rhinos, blending into the landscape and discovering nature in a way that can simply not be done by vehicle. These exclusive and awe-inspiring experiences are just a few of the extraordinary offerings presented in Micato Safaris’ new 2013-2014 brochure, available now. Highlights include:

The Private Invitation Safari: This safari is different. Very different. It’s akin to being hosted at a friend’s private camp on the African savannah, then moving to another friend’s bush home on the edge of the virgin forest. At each location, travelers are personally hosted by the proprietors of each small, carefully selected bush home or camp.   Offering an intimate immersion into Africa and its people that few travelers will ever experience, guests will discover LeMarti’s Camp- a favorite of Ralph Lauren, Uma Thurman and Daniel Craig—and its owners, Samburu warrior Loyapan Lemarti and his wife Anna Trzebinski, a Kenyan fashion designer of international renown. From there they will travel to the Kenya-Tanzania border to be the guests of Campi ya Kanzi founders Luca and Antonella Belpietro, a hugely hospitable and dynamic Italian couple who gave up a privileged life in Italy to dedicate their lives to the preservation of Maasai Culture in Kenya’s Chyulu Hills. At Nairobi’s Hogmead, third-generation owners Fuzz and Bimbi Dyer will regale guests with amusing anecdotes of African life. At safaris’ end, travelers will have collected not just memories and photographs, but friends in their warm and engaging hosts.   (15 Days; from $7,945 per person.)

Elephant Back South Africa Sojourn: Ambling atop an elephant is exhilarating. Secreted by the height and girth of these gentle giants, plains game take no notice and dally by travelers’ sides, zebras graze and dazzle nearby, and giraffes blink long lashes at eye level. Such are the joys that await on this safari. Ideal for families, this journey starts at the incomparable One&Only Cape Town. The breadth of Cape Town’s magnificent physical and cultural attributes will be explored, including a fascinating visit to Rosie’s Kitchen, a beacon of hope that has been feeding the Kahyelitsha Township’s destitute for two decades, and a visit to the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. At Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve and Shambala Private Game Reserve, guests will track the Big Five, first by open-top vehicle and then by elephant back!   (12 Days; from $14,275 per person.)

Additional enhancements to Micato’s 2013 offerings include: accommodations at The Lake Manyara Escarpment Camp on the ever-popular Kenya-Tanzania Hemingway Wing Safari, a visit to Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve on the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Safari, and welcoming Serengeti Pioneer Camp into Micato’s exclusive Bespoke Collection of private bush homes, camps and lodges.

The Micato Difference….

No Tipping, Ever: Micato trips are already unmatched in their degree of included extras, from exceptional special events to educational enhancements, plus myriad little luxuries lavished upon guests throughout. And now, all gratuities are included, even for the Micato staff: Safari Directors, Drivers and Concierges. With Micato, all-inclusive truly means everything is included.

A Passionate Dedication to Changing Lives: Seldom do travelers have an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of the people whose lands they visit. Yet in Africa, every day for more than 25 years this miracle has taken place for travelers who join in the good works of Micato’s nonprofit foundation, Micato-AmericaShare ( Micato-AmericaShare was founded by Micato Safaris with the education of orphaned and vulnerable children as its highest priority. One hundred percent of every donation reaches the children, since all administrative costs are paid by Micato. What began as an idea and a dream has grown into a vital foundation that has been changing lives for a quarter century!

Micato’s Revolutionary One For One Commitment: Every guest’s safari enables Micato to do something wonderful: for every safari sold, Micato sends a child to school—a child who would otherwise stay home due to extreme poverty. An unimaginable number of African children do not attend school because their families are too poor to pay even the most nominal fees related to school attendance. Micato’s way of helping? A “One for One” commitment: For every safari sold, Micato sends one African child to school.

These are just a few of the reasons Micato is consistently named the world’s #1 safari outfitter. To learn more, order Micato’s new 2013-2014 brochure by calling 1-800-MICATO-1 or visiting
