Micato Safaris Receives 2010 Global Vision Award

~Travel + Leisure Honors Companies and Organizations That Are Leaders in Responsible Travel ~

New York, NY - October 21, 2010- Luxury safari outfitter Micato Safaris (www.micato.com) is proud to receive a 2010 Global Vision Award from Travel + Leisure magazine.  The awards, which were given in five categories: conservation, sustainability, preservation, development, and leadership, are meant to identify the latest and best examples of the power of travel as an engine of positive change.

The winner in the development category for youth education, Micato was lauded for its innovative One for One Commitment, which promises to send an African child to school for every safari the company sells.

"For more than twenty years, the education of Africa's children has been our greatest and most rewarding commitment," states Dennis Pinto, Managing Director of Micato Safaris. "We are honored to be recognized for what we consider our most important mission of all - providing an education to those who would otherwise do without."

The 19 winners were chosen by a distinguished panel of seven judges, including Nobel-prize winning economist Dr. Joseph Stiglitz; model, designer, and goodwill ambassador for the World Health Organization Liya Kebede; and Oscar-winning documentarian (The Cove) Louie Psihoyos.

The awards are featured on www.travelandleisure.com and in the November issue of Travel + Leisure.
